Amitabh Bachchan’s traditional Sunday meeting with fans outside his Mumbai residence took a different turn on November 1, 2026, as the veteran actor greeted the crowd from behind a transparent bulletproof enclosure. His son, Abhishek Bachchan, was also present and appeared to keep a close watch on the surroundings.
The additional protection comes amid growing security concerns involving Bollywood personalities. Last month, gunmen reportedly opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Following the incident, bulletproof protection was installed on the vehicle’s windshield.
Other prominent actors have also taken security precautions. Shah Rukh Khan reportedly changed his usual position while greeting fans outside his residence, Mannat, keeping a greater distance from the crowd. Salman Khan, meanwhile, had bulletproof glass installed on the balcony of his Galaxy Apartments home in Bandra, where he traditionally greets fans on Eid and his birthday. He also reportedly imported a bulletproof vehicle in 2024 amid threats.
Security professionals say such precautions are becoming increasingly important for high-profile personalities. Actor and security agency owner Ronit Roy described the enclosure as a necessary measure for a star of Bachchan’s stature, arguing that the risk increases when celebrities appear in public.
Security consultant Yusuf Ibrahim also supported preventive measures, while suggesting that the current arrangements may be temporary.
The developments highlight how security concerns are changing the way Bollywood stars interact with their fans. Long-standing public traditions are increasingly being adapted to maintain a safer distance between celebrities and large crowds.
