Corrections Policy
We get things wrong sometimes. What matters is what happens next.
What we do
When we find a factual error, or someone shows us one, we fix it as soon as we have checked it. We do not quietly edit the sentence and carry on as though nothing happened. A note is added to the story saying what was corrected and when, and it stays there.
That note is the point. A reader who saw the wrong version deserves to know it was wrong, and a reader arriving later deserves to know the story has been through a correction.
The difference between a correction and an update
- A correction means we published something that was not true. It is always marked.
- An update means the situation has moved on and we have added what is new. The story carries the time it was last updated.
Serious errors
If an error is serious enough to have changed what the story meant, correcting the page quietly is not enough. We will say so clearly at the top of the story.
What we will not do
We do not remove a story because a person or an organisation does not like it. We correct what is factually wrong. Being unwelcome is not the same as being inaccurate, and we will explain that politely but we will not be moved on it.
In rare cases, for example where leaving a page up would put someone in danger, we may remove or edit it. We will say that we have done so.
Telling us
Write to admin@divinemedia24.com or use our contact form. Please include the headline and, if you can, the sentence you are pointing at. You do not need to be polite about it, and you do not need to explain who you are.
