In My Hero Academia, powerful Quirks and dramatic battles often take centre stage. While Class 1-A receives much of the attention, several students from Class 1-B have abilities that deserve recognition. One of them is Yosetsu Awase, whose Weld Quirk demonstrates how precision and strategy can be just as valuable as raw power.
Awase’s Quirk allows him to permanently fuse two objects or surfaces through physical contact. Its usefulness does not depend on the materials involved, making it a versatile ability for both combat and rescue situations. Although it may not look as impressive as explosive or elemental powers, Weld can give him a significant tactical advantage.
One of its most memorable demonstrations comes during the Joint Training Battle, when Awase uses his special move, Construction-Done-Kwik: Weldcraft, to trap Katsuki Bakugo. By welding metal rods to Bakugo and a nearby wall, he temporarily restricts his opponent's movement and creates an opening for his team.
The ability also has practical applications beyond fighting. Awase can secure structures, restrain opponents and potentially assist with emergency repairs. Its effectiveness comes from how intelligently he uses it rather than how destructive it appears.
His performance is not limited to his Quirk, either. Awase secured 10th place in the U.A. Entrance Exam, highlighting his capabilities as a student.
Yosetsu Awase may not be among the series' most prominent characters, but his combination of composure, practical thinking and tactical ability makes him a valuable member of Class 1-B. His story is a reminder that being a hero is not always about having the biggest or flashiest power.
