Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has officially filed his nomination papers as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election from Madhya Pradesh. The by-poll for the upper house seat was necessitated following the resignation of former Union Minister L. Murugan.
Accompanied by senior party leaders, Puri completed the filing process in Bhopal after earlier visiting the city's Karunadham Ashram. The Central Election Committee of the BJP had previously cleared his candidature, putting to rest earlier speculations regarding his parliamentary representation following the conclusion of his previous tenure representing Uttar Pradesh.
The Election Commission has laid out the schedule to conclude the entire electoral process for the lone Madhya Pradesh seat ahead of mid-November. As a senior Union Cabinet Minister managing key portfolios, Puri's smooth transition back to the Upper House ensures continued administrative stability for the central government's legislative agenda.
