Actor Susmita Mukherjee has remembered Nana Patekar through a collection of old photographs taken at actor Deepti Naval’s birthday party on February 3, 1991. Sharing the memories on Instagram, Susmita reflected on friendship, the passage of time and the emotional weight of losing someone who had been part of her life for decades.
The photographs reportedly came to her from a friend of 38 years and brought back memories she had not revisited in a long time. Susmita described how seeing the pictures helped revive not only details of that evening but also the feelings associated with it, including affection, camaraderie and the innocence of their younger days.
In her emotional tribute, Susmita recalled a gathering shared by four friends, with wine, music, laughter and a piano creating the atmosphere of a private world. Looking back at the photographs, she reflected on how life changes, relationships evolve and moments that once seemed ordinary can become precious with time.
Her words also acknowledged the pain of losing one member of that close circle. Rather than remembering only the person who was gone, she wrote about mourning the shared experiences and the period of life that could never be recreated.
The post offered a personal glimpse into the friendships that existed among actors away from the spotlight. The old photographs served as a reminder of a time when the group shared everyday moments before the years brought their own changes and challenges.
Deepti Naval had also remembered Nana through a still from the film Yatra, directed by Gautam Ghosh. In her post, she referred to a moment of conflict between their characters, offering another memory of their association on screen.
The tributes reflect the different ways colleagues and friends preserve the memory of someone they have lost: through photographs, film scenes and stories from earlier years. For Susmita, the 1991 images became a way to revisit a friendship and honour the moments that remained meaningful long after they had passed.
