The Railway Board approved the service earlier this week, and Northern Railway will operate and maintain the train. Currently, two Vande Bharat Chair Car services are available on the Varanasi-Delhi route.

The inaugural service will operate as train number 02527. According to the schedule provided, it will cover approximately 759 kilometres in 9 hours and 45 minutes.

The train will operate via Kanpur Central, providing an additional rail connection for passengers travelling between Varanasi and New Delhi.

The introduction of the sleeper version is significant because it combines the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat platform with overnight travel facilities. Unlike the existing chair car services, the sleeper train is designed for passengers who prefer travelling overnight while having access to sleeping accommodation.

The new service is expected to improve connectivity between important destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi while offering an alternative to conventional overnight trains.

With the inaugural run scheduled for October 31, passengers will be looking for further details about regular operations, ticket availability, departure schedules and intermediate stoppages.

The launch marks another development in Indian Railways' efforts to expand the Vande Bharat network and modernise long-distance passenger services.
