The Supreme Court on Friday, October 30, 2026, directed expelled Janata Dal (United) MLA Anant Singh to surrender by December 1 in connection with the murder case of Dular Chand Yadav.
A Bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and Prasanna B. Varale passed the order while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of the bail previously granted to Singh by the Patna High Court.
Singh had been arrested in connection with the case over allegations that he orchestrated the killing of Dular Chand Yadav in October 2025. However, the Patna High Court granted him bail in March 2026.
The latest Supreme Court order requires Singh to surrender within the specified deadline as proceedings in the case continue.
The Bench also directed Bihar Police to complete the investigation within four months. The direction places a timeline on the investigating agency to conclude its work and proceed with the next steps in the case.
The case has drawn attention in Bihar's political circles, particularly after the JD(U) expelled Singh from the party for six years and sought action regarding his position as an MLA.
The Supreme Court's direction marks an important development in the ongoing legal proceedings. The investigation and subsequent court proceedings will determine the next course of action in the murder case.
Singh remains an accused in the case, and the allegations against him are subject to judicial determination.
