Apple’s 2026 iPad mini is a significant update to the company’s compact tablet lineup. The latest model retains the portability that has made the mini popular while addressing several of its earlier limitations, including display quality and processing performance. The most noticeable change is the move from an 8.3-inch IPS LCD to an 8.5-inch OLED display. The new screen offers deeper blacks, improved contrast and brighter HDR content, bringing the small tablet closer to Apple’s premium display experience. Its slimmer bezels allow the larger screen to fit within a similarly compact design.  The tablet is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, providing a substantial performance upgrade over the previous generation. Apple has also introduced an Acoustic Display audio system, a landscape-positioned 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and IP67-rated water and dust resistance. The device is 5.4mm thick and supports Apple Pencil Pro. Despite the improvements, the iPad mini remains a specialised device. Its small form factor makes it convenient for reading, travel, gaming and everyday tasks, but users seeking a larger workspace may find other iPad models more suitable. Price is another concern. The 2026 iPad mini starts at $699 in the US, a $100 increase over the previous model’s earlier starting price. In India, Apple lists the Wi-Fi version from ₹82,900.  The upgrades make the iPad mini more capable than ever, but its premium pricing may make buyers consider whether portability alone justifies the additional cost.
