Union Minister Giriraj Singh has renewed his criticism of Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc, accusing opposition leaders of turning voter-roll protests into a campaign of disorder. His remarks cover Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Congress’s partnership with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh.
On November 3, Singh alleged that Gandhi and his allies sought to create anarchy and spark civil conflict through protests against SIR. He also questioned why opposition leaders had not submitted voter names and evidence to support claims of wrongful deletions. These accusations are Singh’s and do not establish whether the voter-roll allegations are true.
Earlier, on October 13, Singh said Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had spent nearly two months protesting Bihar’s SIR without presenting proof. He described the demonstrations as politically motivated and said the exercise checked voters’ identities.
Opposition parties have argued that SIR could exclude eligible voters. The Election Commission says the revision is intended to identify duplicate or ineligible entries, and rejects claims of political manipulation.
Singh also targeted the Congress-SP relationship ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. On September 29, he called the alliance unnatural and predicted Congress would win no seats if it contested without the SP. His comments came amid reports of tension over seat-sharing, although both parties had said they planned to contest the election together.
