An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre and three others have been booked for allegedly assaulting police personnel and obstructing them from performing their duties during a late-night inspection at a pub in Bengaluru.
The case was registered at Cubbon Park police station on October 10, 2026, against Vikas Marmat, who serves as Special Officer of the Kuppam Area Development Authority in Andhra Pradesh, and three other individuals.
The other accused have been identified as Abhay Uday Singh, Nitish and Roshan. According to the complaint, the group allegedly assaulted a police inspector and other personnel, verbally abused them and interfered with the officers’ official responsibilities.
The incident reportedly occurred during a police inspection at a bar and restaurant in Bengaluru. The inspection brought the group into contact with police personnel, following which the alleged confrontation led to the registration of a case.
The allegations against Marmat and the three other individuals concern the alleged use of violence against public servants and obstruction of official duties. However, the accusations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
Marmat’s position as a serving IAS officer has brought additional attention to the case. IAS officers hold senior administrative responsibilities, and allegations involving public officials can attract scrutiny over accountability and adherence to the law.
The registration of the case marks the beginning of the legal process and does not establish the guilt of any accused person. Further details about the investigation, the specific charges invoked and any subsequent police action were not included in the available report.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged confrontation and determine the next steps in the case.
