Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind Claude, has filed to go public in the United States after reporting a sharp increase in revenue alongside significant costs associated with developing and operating advanced AI models.

The company submitted a registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on October 26, 2026. It plans to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT. The number of shares to be offered and the proposed price range have not yet been determined.

Anthropic's first-half revenue surged 14-fold to $16.3 billion, highlighting growing demand for its AI products and services. Revenue from existing customers also increased ninefold, indicating that businesses already using its technology are expanding their spending.

However, the company reported a net loss of $80.7 billion for the first half of the year. Much of this loss was attributed to accounting charges related to changes in valuation, rather than being presented as a direct measure of its day-to-day operating performance.

The financial disclosures highlight the contrasting realities of the AI industry, where companies are experiencing rapid commercial growth while facing substantial expenses and complex valuation-related accounting effects.

Anthropic's planned stock market debut will give investors an opportunity to assess its business model, revenue growth and financial risks as competition intensifies across the AI sector. Its growing enterprise revenue could attract investor interest, although the scale of its reported loss is likely to draw scrutiny.

The IPO filing marks a significant step for the Claude developer, but investors will need further details, including the final offer size and pricing, before the terms of the proposed listing become clear.
