Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred at the age of 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Speaking to PTI in an interview, Nanda acknowledged that the film may not have performed well commercially. However, he said that neither he nor the other people involved in making it considered themselves failures.

The actor expressed pride in the film and said the team would always remain grateful for having been part of a project that conveyed a message of peace and love. He also emphasised that peace would never go out of fashion.

Agastya Nanda on Film's Commercial Performance

Nanda said that the commercial outcome of a film is not entirely within the control of its actors or filmmakers. While everyone involved hopes for a positive response, their primary responsibility is to give their best creatively.

He explained that filmmakers and actors can put their full effort into a project, but its eventual performance depends on factors beyond their direct control.

For Nanda, being associated with a film that communicates an important message is itself a matter of pride, regardless of its box office results.

Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is based on the story of Arun Khetarpal, a young Second Lieutenant who lost his life during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The film focuses on a chapter of India's military history and brings attention to the sacrifice of a soldier who was only 21 years old at the time of his martyrdom.

Through its story, the film also highlights the importance of peace and humanity, a message that Agastya Nanda believes remains relevant across generations.

The Message Beyond Box Office Numbers

Nanda's comments underline the distinction between a film's commercial performance and the purpose behind its storytelling. Although box office figures are an important part of the film industry, they do not necessarily determine the creative value or message of a project.

For the actor, Ikkis remains a film worth taking pride in because of what it represents.

His statement that peace will never go out of fashion reflects the central message he believes audiences should take away from the film.
