The Aam Aadmi Party has officially released its first list of 40 candidates for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Prioritizing stability and administrative continuity, the ruling party has decided to bank heavily on its sitting legislators. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will once again contest from his stronghold constituency of Dhuri, leading the electoral charge for a second consecutive term.
The candidate rollout features prominent figures across the Malwa, Majha, and Doaba regions, maintaining confidence in incumbent leadership. Among the notable names included in this initial announcement is Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who has been nominated from Kotkapura. Additionally, jailed leader Sanjeev Arora has been renominated to contest from the Ludhiana West assembly seat, marking a significant political decision by the party leadership.
By announcing candidates early, the party aims to give its representatives ample groundwork time to connect with voters and consolidate local support across the 117-member legislative assembly. Political analysts view this initial strategy as an effort to counter opposition momentum by projecting a unified front focused on governance delivery and grassroots strength. Further candidate lists for the remaining constituencies are expected to be finalized and announced in the coming weeks as election preparations gain full momentum.
