A resident of Dogran Mohalla, Chhavi completed her BA LLB degree in Patiala. Although she initially aspired to become a lawyer, she also wanted to join the civil services. She began preparing for the competitive examination alongside her college studies and dedicated around eight hours a day to preparation, generally starting between 6 am and 7 am.

Chhavi said she stayed away from social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram during her preparation. She also used ChatGPT to understand subjects and gather information while studying. She credited consistent preparation, time management and dedication for helping her achieve her goal.

According to Chhavi, around 60,000 candidates participated in the initial stage of the selection process. The first stage of the examination took place in April, followed by the second stage in June. Interviews were conducted at the commission's office in Panchkula from October 3 to 8, before the final results were announced.

Chhavi has also appeared for the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations, with both results awaited. She said she would prioritise her responsibilities in Haryana while continuing to explore future opportunities.

Her achievement has brought happiness to her family. Her father, Chirag Sardana, runs a printing press shop, while her mother, Suman Sardana, is a homemaker. Relatives and well-wishers visited the family to congratulate Chhavi on her success.
