Reliance Textile Industries, now Reliance Industries Limited, launched its IPO in November 1977 at ₹10 per share. The company raised around ₹2.82 crore through an issue of 28.2 lakh shares, which reportedly received seven times subscription. Its shares listed at around ₹17–₹18 apiece.

Over the following decades, Reliance expanded beyond textiles into refining, petrochemicals, retail and telecommunications. Six bonus issues increased the shareholding over time, with the latest 1:1 bonus issue announced in August 2024.

The report estimates that the original 100 shares grew to 4,096 shares worth around ₹48.74 lakh as of October 23, 2026. The separate listing of Jio Financial Services in 2023 added another estimated ₹4.19 lakh in shares, taking the combined value to ₹52.93 lakh.

The calculation excludes the additional value of dividends, which shareholders received over the years. Past returns, however, do not guarantee future investment performance.
