In an interview, Omnipresence Robot Tech co-founders Akash Sinha and Jyoti Sinha discussed their journey from working with the US Army and DARPA to developing technologies in India. Their work spans 3D mapping satellites, Chandrayaan-related technologies, AI systems for the Indian Air Force, drones designed to operate without GPS signals and technology aimed at preventing bird strikes.

Government initiatives, including the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX and ADITI programmes, along with RDI funding, are helping startups pursue defence research and development and explore procurement opportunities.

The founders also discussed efforts to reduce reliance on defence imports, the growth of domestic manufacturing and the return of skilled professionals from the United States. Together, these developments reflect India’s growing focus on building homegrown defence technology and strengthening its domestic innovation ecosystem.
