A fire at Film City in Goregaon East, Mumbai, disrupted multiple television shoots on Monday, October 5, after smoke from a temporary setup for Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 spread to nearby sets.
The fire reportedly broke out around 4 pm on the outer shade of the temporary setup located behind Prime Focus Studio. No shoot was scheduled on the Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 set at the time, and no injuries were reported.
However, the smoke reached the adjoining sets of Hustle Season 5 and Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, forcing actors and crew members to leave the affected areas. Amitabh Bachchan, who was shooting for KBC, also had to step outside because of the smoke. The disruption reportedly brought the shoots to a halt for around 90 minutes.
According to Ashok Dubey of the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC) and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the incident could have had more serious consequences if filming had been underway on the Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 set.
Dubey also raised broader concerns about fire safety and inspections at shooting locations. He said the federation has previously approached the labour department, BMC and fire authorities over safety checks and structural audits.
The incident has once again drawn attention to safety protocols at Mumbai’s busy film and television production sites, with industry representatives calling for stronger inspections before shoots begin.
