Tom Cruise’s latest film Digger has opened to a weak response at the Indian box office, collecting just ₹1.55 crore net in its first three days, according to the figures cited in the report.
The film began its theatrical run with around ₹65 lakh net on Friday. Its collection declined by about 30% on Saturday, while Sunday failed to provide the expected weekend boost. The film consequently remained below the ₹1 crore mark on any individual day during its opening weekend.
The performance is notably lower than Cruise’s recent successes in India. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning crossed ₹100 crore in the country, while Top Gun: Maverick came close to the ₹50 crore mark.
For comparison, Top Gun: Maverick collected around ₹38 crore net during its first three days in India. Based on these figures, Digger has recorded an approximately 96% lower three-day collection.
The film has also struggled internationally. Released by Warner Bros. across about 3,300 North American theatres, Digger reportedly collected $8 million during its opening weekend. Its worldwide total stood at around $20 million after three days.
Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, Digger stars Cruise as an oil tycoon whose actions trigger a natural disaster, forcing him to convince the world that he is its only hope. Riz Ahmed, John Goodman and Sandra Hüller also feature in the cast.
