The party declared on social media platform X that it would return to Jantar Mantar and continue its agitation until its demands were fulfilled. The announcement came after police prevented protesters from reaching the designated demonstration site on Saturday.

According to reports, around 6,000 people had been detained across the national capital by 7 pm. Several Opposition leaders, activists and party supporters were among those taken into custody as security restrictions tightened across Delhi.

Those detained included Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, Neha Bora, Yogendra Yadav and lawyer Prashant Bhushan.

Police detained Banerjee and other Trinamool leaders outside her Delhi residence, while Kejriwal and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj were detained near Jantar Mantar. Vijayan was taken to Chhatrasal Stadium. Some activists, including Bora, Yadav and Bhushan, were also detained before several were released later in the evening.

With Jantar Mantar sealed off, activists had urged supporters to regroup at Dilli Haat. Meanwhile, Wangchuk warned that he might begin a hunger strike or undertake a march if those detained were not released by Sunday.

CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were reportedly detained inside an aircraft after landing in Delhi.

CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde reiterated that the movement would continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigned, setting the stage for another round of demonstrations in the capital.
