Veteran Bollywood actor Danny Denzongpa built a successful business career alongside his acting journey, establishing a brewery company in Sikkim that eventually expanded across eastern and northeastern India. His business expansion also involved a reported ₹40 crore acquisition in Assam at a time when Vijay Mallya's United Breweries was looking to enter the Northeast market.

Danny established Yuksom Breweries in 1987, naming the company after his village in Sikkim. What began as a small-scale operation aimed at supporting local employment and the regional economy gradually grew into a major brewery business. The company later became one of India's largest breweries and a significant player in the Northeast, according to the report.

The actor began expanding the business in 2005 by setting up Denzong Breweries in Odisha. In 2009, he acquired Rhino Agencies Ltd in Assam for a reported ₹40 crore. The acquisition came as United Breweries, associated with Vijay Mallya, was exploring expansion into the northeastern market. Danny reportedly wanted to protect his company's position against competition from the larger brewing group.

In a 2009 interview, Danny described his breweries as his main source of income, saying they were his real "bread and butter" while acting had happened along the way. He later explained that the financial stability provided by his business allowed him to be selective about film projects and work at his own pace.

Despite his successful acting career, Danny gradually reduced his film appearances. Known for villainous roles in films such as Agneepath, Ghatak and The Burning Train, his last reported film appearance was in Sooraj Barjatya's Uunchai (2022). He received the Padma Shri in 2003.
