Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke met Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in Delhi on Saturday, thanking her for backing youth-led protests and expressing support for the INDIA bloc’s demonstration against alleged electoral irregularities. Despite supporting the cause, Dipke said the CJP would not formally join Sunday’s rally at Ramlila Maidan, citing its independent and politically neutral identity.
He thanked Banerjee for backing the CJP’s first Jantar Mantar protest over the NEET paper leak and for standing by members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after Delhi Police arrested them.
Dipke said the party supported the protest and would stand with any organisation challenging alleged vote theft, regardless of political affiliation. The CJP has also called for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Banerjee, in Delhi for the INDIA bloc event, praised Dipke and the activists for campaigning against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and criticising the Election Commission. She said the activists had supported Sunday’s programme and that her party had reciprocated. Banerjee also invited Dipke and other CJP members to visit West Bengal and organise programmes, leaving the decision to them.
The rally is planned at Ramlila Maidan, with organisers calling for a march from the Minto Road–Connaught Place junction at noon. Opposition parties are expected to demand accountability from the Election Commission over alleged electoral irregularities. The CJP says it will support efforts for free and fair elections while staying outside the alliance’s formal mobilisation.
