New Delhi-based ChampaTree art gallery is expanding to Hyderabad, opening a new art space at Artyk, a furniture showroom in Jubilee Hills, on October 10.
The new space is designed to bring contemporary art closer to everyday living by displaying artworks within a domestic-style environment. Located on Road No. 44, Jubilee Hills, the space allows visitors to experience how paintings and other artworks could look within a home rather than in a conventional gallery setting.
The launch will coincide with “Where We Continue,” a group exhibition featuring works by 17 artists from across India. The exhibition will introduce visitors to a range of contemporary artistic practices while highlighting ChampaTree’s approach to making art more accessible.
ChampaTree was co-founded by Archana Sapra, an architect-turned-art curator and entrepreneur, and visual artist Pooja Bahri. The gallery emerged from their Art For Art Foundation, which they established in 2011 to support artistic practice, mentorship and dialogue.
The Hyderabad expansion marks another step in ChampaTree’s effort to create spaces where art and everyday environments can interact more naturally. By partnering with a furniture showroom, the gallery also brings together two closely connected aspects of interior spaces — art and design.
For Hyderabad’s growing contemporary art scene, the new venue offers a different format for experiencing artworks, particularly for visitors who may prefer a more informal setting than a traditional gallery.
