A24 has released the first full trailer for You Can See Everything, a documentary from Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim that follows convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes through an unusually intimate filmmaking process.

The documentary began after Holmes invited the filmmakers into her home just 34 days before she was scheduled to report to prison. According to the film’s makers, the project was shot secretly over a period of three years, capturing their evolving relationship with Holmes.

The trailer opens with Fielder questioning Holmes about the events surrounding her fraud conviction. When asked whether she believes she did anything wrong, Holmes maintains that she did not. She also says she does not fully understand how she reached her current circumstances.

The exchange establishes the unusual dynamic at the centre of the documentary, with Fielder repeatedly questioning Holmes while she continues to present her perspective on the events that led to her conviction.

You Can See Everything reportedly premiered as a surprise screening at the Telluride Film Festival earlier this month. The documentary is scheduled to open in US theatres on October 16.

The film offers an extended look at Holmes while raising questions about documentary access, self-perception and the relationship between filmmaker and subject.
