Candidates preparing for both the UGC NET December 2026 examination and the Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Teacher (UP PGT) recruitment examination are facing a scheduling concern, as the two exams are set to overlap in December. Aspirants have urged the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to reconsider the UP PGT examination dates to avoid difficulties for candidates appearing in both tests.
According to the schedule shared in the examination update, the UP PGT 2026 examination is planned for December 15 and 16. The last date to submit the UP PGT application is October 17, 2026.
Meanwhile, the UGC NET December 2026 application window is listed as October 8 to October 28, with examinations scheduled from December 14 to 19. This period includes both UP PGT exam dates, creating a potential clash for candidates who qualify or register for both examinations.
The overlapping schedules may create challenges for aspirants managing preparation, travel arrangements and examination commitments. Candidates are therefore requesting UPESSC to consider changing the UP PGT dates so that they have a fair opportunity to appear for both examinations.
The UGC NET examination is used to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor appointments and, subject to applicable criteria, the Junior Research Fellowship. The UP PGT examination, meanwhile, is conducted for postgraduate teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh.
Candidates should check the official UPESSC and National Testing Agency (NTA) websites for confirmed schedules, application details and any subsequent changes. Until an official revision is announced, aspirants should treat the published dates as provisional only if the relevant authorities describe them that way; otherwise, follow the latest official notices.
