The Ramayana film’s new song sequence, Tandav, featuring Yash as Ravana, has attracted attention online. Unveiled around Dussehra, the 1-minute-55-second video presents Ravana as a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, combining intense dance movements with the character’s strength, energy and commanding presence.
The sequence focuses on a lesser-explored dimension of Ravana’s character: his devotion to Shiva alongside his reputation as a formidable king. In Hindu tradition, the Tandav is associated with Lord Shiva’s cosmic dance, while Ravana is traditionally linked to the Shiva Tandav Stotram, a hymn expressing devotion to the deity.
The song has been met with enthusiastic reactions on social media, with viewers praising Yash’s screen presence and the sequence’s scale. Some fans have described it as one of the most striking promotional glimpses of the film so far. These responses reflect online audience reactions rather than a measure of the film’s overall reception.
The track is composed by A.R. Ameen and Hiral Viradia, with lyrics written by Dr. Kumar Vishwas and vocals by Vishal Dadlani. The film’s broader music project also brings together A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking a notable collaboration for the epic adaptation.
Directed as a large-scale retelling of the Indian epic, Ramayana is being developed in two parts. Producer Namit Malhotra has described the combined budget as around $500 million, or more than ₹4,000 crore. The project aims to present the story to audiences in India and internationally.
The first instalment was scheduled for a worldwide release in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, while the second part was planned for Diwali 2027, according to the supplied report. Audiences will be watching to see how the film develops Ravana’s character and brings its musical and visual scale to the big screen.
