Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a global framework to tackle rising threats from cyber frauds, deepfakes, and digital crimes, stressing that technology can achieve scale only when it earns people’s trust.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, themed “Scale Without Boundaries”, Modi highlighted how digital threats have crossed national borders and require coordinated global action. He urged governments, technology companies, telecom operators, and financial institutions to work together to create mechanisms that curb fraud and safeguard users.
“Digital crimes are no longer confined to one country. They affect citizens worldwide. To ensure trust in technology, we must build a collective framework,” Modi said, underlining the urgency of international cooperation.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when deepfake technology and online scams are increasingly undermining public confidence in digital platforms. Experts believe a global regulatory framework could help standardize responses, strengthen cybersecurity, and protect consumers from manipulation.
Modi’s call reflects India’s ambition to play a leading role in shaping the future of digital governance, ensuring that innovation is matched with accountability and trust.
