The waiver will apply to exams scheduled to be conducted in November and December. According to the university, the decision is aimed at supporting students affected by the ongoing drought situation in the state.

To claim the benefit, students must submit proof of residence in a drought-affected taluka along with a certificate confirming that their family’s annual income does not exceed ₹8 lakh. Applicants must also declare that they have not received examination fee reimbursement under any other government educational concession.

The university said the measure will cover eligible regular students pursuing undergraduate, diploma, postgraduate, professional and non-professional programmes at affiliated colleges, as well as students at university campuses and sub-centres.

A total of 265 out of Maharashtra’s 358 talukas have been declared drought-affected.

The decision followed an online meeting held on October 1 and chaired by the state Higher and Technical Education Minister to review the drought situation. During the meeting, instructions were issued to provide examination fee waivers to eligible students from affected areas.

Student applications and supporting documents will be verified at the college level. Only students meeting the eligibility conditions will receive the waiver. The university’s Board of Examinations and Evaluation has advised eligible students to approach their respective colleges with the required documents and prescribed undertaking.
