Mangalore University’s Academic Council has approved several new academic programmes for the 2026–27 academic year, expanding study options in regional languages, technology and career-oriented fields.
A key decision is the approval of Tulu as an optional subject at the undergraduate level at Alva’s College in Moodubidire. The council also approved French as an optional subject at the college, creating opportunities for students to explore regional and international languages.
Other approved programmes include specialised business management certifications, digital marketing courses, an MBA in Healthcare Management and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programmes. The university also approved a BSc Data Science programme at Vivekananda College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Puttur. Prestige School of Management and Innovation received affiliation to offer BBA in Logistics, BCA in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and BCA in Data Analytics.
The university’s affiliated network now comprises 150 institutions. However, the council also noted that affiliation was not renewed for four colleges for the current academic year: Ambika Mahavidyalaya in Puttur, Anjuman First Grade College in Jokatte, Prerana College in Mangaluru and Sri Bharathi College in Mangaluru.
The approvals reflect the university’s efforts to broaden academic choices, preserve regional linguistic heritage and strengthen practical skills relevant to changing employment needs.
