Speaking on Thursday, Norris said, “Indians love Formula 1, and I would love to race there,” highlighting the enthusiasm of Indian fans who have long supported the sport despite its absence from the calendar.

India last hosted Formula 1 between 2011 and 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit, but the race was dropped due to taxation and financial hurdles. Now, the Indian government has formed a task force to bring the event back, signaling renewed commitment to positioning India as a global motorsport destination.

The revival plan is seen as part of India’s broader push to expand its sports infrastructure and attract international events. Motorsport experts believe that hosting F1 again could boost tourism, create jobs, and inspire a new generation of Indian drivers.

For Norris and other drivers, racing in India would not only be a competitive challenge but also an opportunity to connect with one of the sport’s most passionate fan bases.
