The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and was attended by leading para‑athletes, including Paralympic medallists Simran Sharma, Preeti Pal, Kapil Parmar, para‑archer Rakesh Kumar, and para‑powerlifter Ashok Kumar.

Highlighting India’s growing strength in para‑sports, Mandaviya praised athletes for their resilience and determination, calling them “true ambassadors of India’s spirit.” He also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and providing world‑class facilities for differently‑abled athletes.

Para‑badminton star Pramod Bhagat, a Paralympic gold medallist, was named the flag bearer of the Indian contingent. PCI President Devendra Jhajharia and PCI & M3M Foundation Chairperson Payal Kanodia were also present, underscoring institutional support for para‑athletes.

The ceremony reflected both pride and optimism, as families and supporters cheered athletes who will represent India on the continental stage. With a mix of seasoned champions and promising newcomers, the contingent aims to deliver strong performances and inspire millions back home.
