The third season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Nepal’s leading franchise-based T20 cricket tournament, begins on October 26, 2026, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The tournament will run until November 21, with eight franchises competing for the championship. The opening fixture features defending champions Lumbini Lions against last season’s runners-up, Sudurpaschim Royals, setting the stage for an exciting start to the competition.
This season marks an important milestone for the league, with International Cricket Council (ICC) recognition and the introduction of the Decision Review System (DRS). The technology will allow teams to challenge certain on-field umpiring decisions, adding another layer of competition and accuracy to matches.
The tournament is also attracting international attention, with several well-known cricketers expected to feature. Former Australian captain David Warner, West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, South African batter David Miller and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan are among the international stars associated with this season.
Their participation is expected to bring additional experience and visibility to Nepal’s domestic T20 competition while giving local players opportunities to compete alongside established international names.
With eight franchises battling for the title over the coming weeks, the league will provide cricket fans with a packed schedule of T20 action. The opening clash between Lumbini Lions and Sudurpaschim Royals will be an early test for two teams that finished at the top of last season’s competition.
As the Nepal Premier League continues to develop, the latest edition aims to strengthen the country’s franchise cricket profile and attract a wider audience.
