Rajinikanth is back as Muthuvel Pandian in the much-awaited Jailer 2 trailer, which was unveiled by Sun Pictures on October 5. Directed by Nelson, the action entertainer continues the story of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer.
The trailer picks up on the threat hinted at in the first film. Before his death, Varman had warned Muthuvel Pandian about the consequences he would face and the powerful people who were coming after him.
The new trailer appears to bring that warning to life, with Muthuvel Pandian facing a formidable new group of adversaries. The film features Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty in prominent roles.
Rajinikanth once again takes centre stage as the ageing but formidable Muthuvel Pandian, with the sequel promising large-scale action, confrontations and Nelson’s distinctive style of entertainment.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026. The film is among the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year, with the return of Rajinikanth’s popular character expected to draw audiences to cinemas.
