Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi met Canadian High Commissioner Christopher Cooter and Trade Commissioner Amy Antonini in New Delhi to discuss strengthening India-Canada cooperation in education, research and innovation.
The talks focused on expanding university partnerships, improving student mobility, strengthening research collaboration and facilitating the entry of Canadian universities into India under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Joshi said the discussions also covered implementing agreements announced during engagements between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to creating more opportunities for students and researchers.
The meeting follows discussions in February 2026, when representatives from 24 Canadian universities met Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to explore research partnerships and the possibility of establishing international campuses in India.
