The Gujarat government has revised admission rules for Pre-PTC (D.El.Ed.) colleges, raising the maximum age limit from 24 to 30 years and increasing the number of seats per class from 50 to 62. The changes aim to widen access to teacher training for candidates seeking careers in pre-primary education.

The revised framework introduces a 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and a 5% reservation for persons with disabilities. Each class will have 62 seats, including 17 for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, four for Scheduled Castes, nine for Scheduled Tribes, 26 for the open category and six for EWS candidates.

The rules also provide a five-year age relaxation for candidates from reserved categories and persons with disabilities, allowing eligible applicants to seek admission up to 35 years of age, according to reports. Candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in Class 12 to qualify.

Pre-PTC colleges, also known as Bal Adhyapan Mandirs, train candidates for early-childhood education. The changes are intended to expand access to the profession by accommodating a wider range of applicants and increasing the availability of seats.

Applicants should consult the official Gujarat D.El.Ed. admission portal and relevant government notifications to confirm eligibility requirements, reservation provisions and admission procedures for the 2026–27 session.
