Tensions are rising ahead of the October 10 protest in Delhi, as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and Left‑leaning organisations alleged that their supporters were being detained across the country.

On Thursday, CJP co‑convener Ashutosh Ranka claimed that Deepak Baliyan, the organisation’s co‑in‑charge, was detained in Rajasthan. The group further alleged that a batch of students traveling from Pune to Delhi was intercepted midway and taken away to an undisclosed location.

“This government has crossed all limits now,” the CJP said in a statement, accusing authorities of attempting to suppress dissent. In Lucknow, police detained activists demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, intensifying the standoff between protesters and the administration.

The October 10 protest, called by the CJP and supported by Left groups, is expected to draw large crowds to Delhi’s protest sites. Organisers say the demonstration will focus on electoral transparency and accountability, while critics argue that pre‑emptive detentions reflect growing intolerance toward dissent.

With security tightened and activists raising alarms, the upcoming protest is shaping up to be a flashpoint in India’s ongoing debate over democracy, rights, and political accountability.
