Prabhas’s upcoming film Fauzi has sparked online criticism following the release of its teaser on October 23, coinciding with the actor’s birthday. Viewers have raised concerns over the portrayal of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, particularly a scene involving German dictator Adolf Hitler.
The teaser reportedly shows Bose praising Prabhas’s character and discussing a code inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. Some viewers criticised the use of a respected historical figure to build up the film’s fictional protagonist, with several demanding an apology from the makers. Other fans defended the project, arguing that it presents a fictionalised story inspired by historical events.
The 2-minute-and-31-second teaser introduces Prabhas as a rebellious soldier prepared to fight for India’s freedom, featuring military imagery and action sequences. A promotional poster also depicts the actor in military uniform alongside the tagline, “A Battalion Who Fights Alone. Most wanted since 1932.”
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and backed by Mythri Movie Makers, Fauzi is presented by T-Series Films. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2027. The controversy has drawn attention to how historical figures are represented in cinematic storytelling.
