Officials confirmed that two persons have been rescued, while several others, including the building owners, are feared trapped. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) rushed multiple fire tenders to the site after receiving a distress call at 3:30 p.m. Local police and traffic authorities immediately cordoned off the congested lanes, urging residents and commuters to stay away due to heavy crowding and rescue operations.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as rescue teams worked tirelessly to clear rubble and search for survivors. The DFS officer leading the operation said that “some people might still be trapped,” highlighting the urgency of the mission.

The collapse has once again raised concerns about structural safety in Delhi’s older residential areas, where unchecked construction and poor maintenance often pose risks. Authorities are expected to launch an inquiry into the incident, while families anxiously await updates on those missing.
