The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that it will launch a nationwide protest beginning October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, if Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar fails to resign.
CJP national convener Abhijeet Dipke made the announcement on social media, declaring: “If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by tomorrow, CJP will begin its nationwide protest from Mumbai on October 2, and take it to cities across India.”
Dipke also criticised opposition parties, accusing them of legitimising “rigged elections” by continuing to participate despite alleged irregularities. He argued that contesting polls under compromised conditions only sustains the illusion of free and fair elections. “Votes are being stolen, MLAs and MPs poached, and parties split — what kind of existence are you protecting?” he asked.
The warning comes amid mounting pressure on the Election Commission following reports of dissent among commissioners and widespread objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. With protests already intensifying across the country, the CJP’s call for mass mobilisation on Gandhi Jayanti could escalate the crisis further.
