The BJP and RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held separate marches in Jharkhand on November 3, criticizing Congress and other opposition parties over democracy and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The marches took place in Giridih and Ranchi as the groups challenged criticism of the voter-list process.
In Giridih, state BJP president Aditya Sahu led a “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” march from Jhanda Maidan to Tower Chowk. The route covered about 300 metres. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and former state BJP president Ravindra Rai also joined. Organizers said hundreds of party workers took part.
BJP leaders accused Congress and the INDIA bloc of misleading the public about SIR. Marandi claimed no eligible voter had been removed and said the exercise targeted fake or ineligible entries. Sahu accused Congress of weakening trust in democratic institutions. Both defended SIR as a voter-list cleanup.
ABVP held its own march from Bapu Vatika to Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi. Speakers said governments should be changed through ballots rather than street protests and urged opposition parties to raise concerns about voter lists through constitutional channels. ABVP leaders said the revision should protect eligible voters while removing ineligible entries.
Former JNU students’ union joint secretary Vaibhav Meena called for concerns to be presented with evidence. State secretary Prakash Tuti said students should focus on nation-building and constitutional processes. The BJP campaign is due to continue in other districts, with a “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” rally announced for Jamshedpur on November 5.
