Xreal has officially launched its Aura Android XR smartglasses, with pre-orders now open for customers who previously paid a reservation deposit. Prices start at $1,279 for the base configuration.
The Aura weighs less than 95 grams and uses a tethered design, connecting to a separate computing puck. The puck runs Android XR, provides access to Google Play apps and includes Gemini-powered AI capabilities. (xreal.com)
The glasses use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR platform and feature cameras for hand tracking. Xreal lists a 70-degree field of view, while the see-through lenses allow users to view their surroundings while digital content is displayed in front of them. The device also incorporates Bose-engineered audio technology. (xreal.com)
The computing puck is designed to handle processing and includes a trackpad and fingerprint sensor for navigation. Users can carry it with a lanyard or attach it to clothing. Aura can also connect to a computer and function as an external display.
Xreal will offer Aura in medium and large sizes. The base model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while a higher-end version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs $1,499.
The smartglasses are scheduled to begin shipping in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with wider international availability planned for 2027.
Aura represents Xreal’s push beyond conventional display glasses towards a more complete Android XR platform, combining see-through displays, dedicated computing, AI features and spatial interaction in a wearable system.
