Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay has accused the DMK of covering up the POCSO Act case against Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani, while also questioning the AIADMK’s silence on the issue.

Speaking at an election campaign rally in Madurantakam (SC‑reserved constituency), Vijay alleged that the case was registered when the DMK was in power but was deliberately suppressed. He demanded that DMK chief and former CM M.K. Stalin disclose “what deal had taken place behind the scenes.”

Vijay further criticised the AIADMK for failing to raise its voice, asking whether the party had reached an “understanding” with the DMK even on such a sensitive matter. His remarks come amid heightened political tensions following Veeramani’s recent arrest in connection with a child abuse case that police had earlier attempted to close.

The issue has become a flashpoint in Tamil Nadu politics, with Vijay positioning himself as a leader willing to confront both major Dravidian parties over alleged corruption and cover‑ups. His campaign speech underscores TVK’s strategy of challenging entrenched political forces while appealing to voters on issues of justice and accountability.
