Pranavi’s victory places her among a select group of Indian golfers to win individual Asian Games gold. Lakshman Singh achieved the feat in 1982 in New Delhi, followed by Shiv Kapur in 2002 in Busan. Pranavi’s triumph in 2026 marks the third such achievement for India and the first by an Indian woman.

Her journey to the top of the podium was not without challenges. However, patience, determination and composure helped her navigate the pressure of the competition and finish strongly.

Speaking during a media interaction facilitated by the Sports Authority of India, Pranavi reflected on her dramatic final day in Japan and the significance of her historic achievement. She also discussed how her previous Asian Games experience in Hangzhou helped her perform better in Aichi-Nagoya.

The golfer believes competing on the Ladies European Tour has also contributed to her development by providing valuable international experience.

Looking ahead, Pranavi said her Olympic preparation would not change significantly following her Asian Games success. Her focus remains on continuing to improve her game and building on the confidence gained in Japan.

Her gold medal represents an important breakthrough for women’s golf in India. With international exposure and a historic victory behind her, Pranavi will aim to carry this momentum into future competitions, including her pursuit of Olympic success.
