Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s economic growth does not come at the expense of other countries, emphasising that the country aims to grow alongside the world and contribute to global prosperity.
Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Modi described India as a reliable partner for the international community and highlighted its role in supporting global economic stability.
“ We do not grow at anyone’s cost; we grow with the world and for the world,” Modi said during his address. He added that India understands its responsibility when the world needs a dependable partner and is ready to extend support.
The Prime Minister pointed to India’s economic performance as evidence of its resilience. According to the figures cited in the address, the country recorded 7.8% economic growth in the April-June quarter. He also highlighted foreign-exchange reserves exceeding $700 billion, presenting them as indicators of economic strength.
Modi further referred to reforms across several areas, including taxation, insolvency procedures and labour laws. These measures, he suggested, demonstrate India’s efforts to strengthen its economic framework and improve its capacity to respond to changing global conditions.
His remarks come at a time when countries are navigating economic uncertainty, trade challenges and shifting international partnerships. By presenting India as a stable and cooperative economy, Modi sought to underline the country’s potential contribution to global growth.
The Prime Minister’s message focused on cooperation rather than competition, positioning India’s development as an opportunity for international partnership. His comments also highlighted the importance of economic resilience, policy reforms and reliable global engagement in an increasingly interconnected world.
