State School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond shared the figures in a written response to a question raised by Congress MLA Sofia Firdous. The errors included 1,075 grammatical, typographical and spelling mistakes, along with five factual and conceptual errors. Another 661 suggestions were made to improve the textbooks.

Among the books with the highest number of reported errors, the Class 8 Science textbook had 294, followed by the Class 7 Urdu book with 121, Class 8 Sanskrit with 114, Class 6 Social Science with 98 and Class 7 Sanskrit with 92 errors.

The minister said steps have been taken to correct the identified mistakes in revised editions of the textbooks.

The findings have drawn attention to the quality-control and proofreading processes involved in preparing school textbooks, particularly after the substantial public expenditure on their publication.
