The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has revised the examination pattern for Classes 9 to 12 for the 2026-27 academic session. Under the updated rules, students will no longer receive internal choices in two-mark very short-answer questions in main subjects.
According to the board notice dated October 15, students will have to answer the two-mark questions as set in the paper, without choosing an alternative. However, internal choices will continue in three-mark short-answer and four-mark long-answer questions in main subjects.
The board has also introduced internal choices in five-mark long-answer and seven-mark essay-type questions in subjects covered under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). These provisions distinguish the question paper structure for main subjects from that of NSQF subjects.
The changes follow decisions taken at the Board of Secondary Education’s Curriculum Committee meeting on August 20, 2025, and subsequently approved by the Executive Committee on August 28, 2025.
Students preparing for MP Board examinations in Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 should familiarise themselves with the revised pattern and prepare the syllabus thoroughly. With alternatives removed from two-mark questions in main subjects, relying on selective preparation may become more difficult.
Students should also check updated sample papers and official board notifications for subject-specific details before beginning their final revision. The latest information can be accessed through the official MPBSE website at mpbse.nic.in.
