Across the university, campaign activity has intensified as candidates reach out to students through traditional meetings, campus interactions and increasingly digital platforms.

Delhi University’s election campaign continues to feature major student organisations such as the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). However, this year’s contest also includes candidates backed by other student groups and independents, adding more voices to the central-panel race. Seven candidates are contesting for president, while five are in the vice-president race.

For many students, the campaign is increasingly centred on practical campus concerns. Hostel availability, student safety, accommodation, academic facilities, placements and administrative accountability have emerged as prominent issues during the election season. Recent concerns around student accommodation have also brought safety and housing into sharper focus.

The campaign style is changing as well. Candidates are using short videos, social media content and campus-focused digital outreach to connect with Delhi University’s largely young electorate.

With voting approaching, the DUSU election reflects both the traditional presence of organised student politics and newer forms of student campaigning and participation. Results are scheduled to be counted on September 19.
