The CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 cycle will introduce a major change for candidates in biotechnology. The DBT-BET (Biotechnology) examination has been merged with CSIR-UGC NET Life Sciences, according to the latest examination update.
Following the merger, a new discipline named Life Sciences & Bio-technology (LS & BT) will be introduced from the December 2026 examination cycle onwards.
The change means candidates preparing for biotechnology-related eligibility examinations will now need to follow the revised framework under the CSIR-UGC NET examination.
Revised syllabus for December 2026
The revised LS & BT syllabus has been made available through the CSIR Information Bulletin. Candidates appearing for the December 2026 cycle are advised to carefully review the updated syllabus and adjust their preparation strategy accordingly.
The revised syllabus is particularly important for candidates transitioning from the earlier DBT-BET examination structure, as the new discipline combines Life Sciences and Biotechnology within the CSIR-UGC NET framework.
Candidates should refer to the official examination information and syllabus before beginning or revising their preparation. The updated syllabus can be accessed through the CSIR Information Bulletin and the examination-related resources provided by the authorities.
The merger will apply from December 2026 onwards, making it an important update for aspirants planning to appear in the upcoming CSIR-UGC NET cycle.
