The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has inaugurated an Experience Centre at its headquarters in Delhi to encourage students to learn through practical activities, interactive exhibits and real-world experiences. The facility is designed to help learners move beyond textbook-based education and develop a deeper understanding of concepts.
Spread across 6,000 square feet, the centre features 12 broad zones and 21 interactive exhibits. Its displays cover the evolution of education in India, emerging career opportunities and the future of different professions. Artificial intelligence (AI) and hands-on learning experiences also form part of the centre’s approach.
Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the facility on Tuesday. He said the initiative reflects the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes experiential and holistic learning.
The minister also highlighted the growing emphasis on examination marks, noting that parents and students often prioritise scores over genuine learning. He stressed that education should encourage children to understand concepts, ask questions and apply their knowledge rather than rely mainly on memorisation.
The centre aims to provide students with opportunities to explore ideas in an engaging environment while learning about changing educational approaches and future career possibilities. By combining interactive displays with practical experiences, the initiative seeks to make learning more meaningful and connect classroom concepts with everyday life.
The launch reflects a broader effort to promote learning that goes beyond examinations and encourages curiosity, critical thinking and the practical application of knowledge.
