Belmont Cameli, known for Off Campus, has joined Sydney Sweeney in Sony Pictures’ upcoming film Hollow, a new adaptation connected to the Sleepy Hollow story.
Cameli is set to play Brom Bones, a character familiar to audiences from Washington Irving’s classic tale. Sweeney is already attached to the project, which is based on filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer’s forthcoming debut novel Hollow.
Beer is also directing the film and adapting her own novel for the screen. The book is scheduled to be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in fall 2027.
The novel was acquired by Putnam following a competitive publishing process and is planned for worldwide translation at launch, signalling the scale of the project even before its theatrical adaptation arrives.
The new film offers a fresh take on the Sleepy Hollow mythology while bringing together an emerging cast led by Sweeney and Cameli. Cameli’s casting as Brom Bones adds another familiar name from the original story to Sony’s new interpretation.
With Beer overseeing both the novel and its film adaptation, Hollow is expected to present a distinct take on the gothic world associated with Sleepy Hollow.
Further details about the film’s release date, additional cast members and production timeline are yet to be announced.
