India’s squash contingent delivered a historic performance at the Asian Games 2026, assuring the nation of three medals after strong wins in both singles and mixed doubles.
Veteran Joshna Chinappa and partner Velavan Senthilkumar advanced to the mixed doubles semifinals with a commanding 11‑3, 11‑5 victory over the Philippines’ David Pelino and Jemyca Aribado. Their experience and chemistry proved decisive as they cruised past their opponents to secure India’s first confirmed medal in squash doubles.
In singles, rising star Anahat Singh, India’s first junior world champion, breezed past compatriot Tanvi Khanna with a dominant 11‑2, 11‑5, 11‑3 win, underlining her status as a medal favourite. Meanwhile, Abhay Singh defeated Japan’s Ryonosuke Tsukue 11‑4, 11‑3, 11‑6 to join Anahat in the semifinals. Abhay will now face Pakistan’s Irfan Muhammad, who earlier knocked out India’s Veer Chotrani.
The stakes are higher than ever, as the men’s and women’s singles gold medallists will earn direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where squash will make its long‑awaited debut. With three medals already assured, India’s squash campaign has become one of the standout stories of the Games.
